  • Just a question thats been on my mind for some time(years)

Change back to a light theme, load time is slow

I used to be a server admin member here b4 the crash and exchange of admin from D to Mapmster
I love what you guys are trying tot do but this site is pretty much only to chat.

I see nothing here that cant be taken care of on a game specific AC site
Punksbusted & PbBans are my only 2 sources of support for any pb game
SteamBans/SourceBans are my only source for steam related games
These above sites offer the backing and support to help server admins,

Im just not sure why all the staff apps, TSA apps, etc, why not just make this a  public moderated site?
I'm not demeaning cheatpolice but ask yourself what are you trying to accomplish or what can you offer the gaming community that the above mentioned sites cant?

    Thanks,

Agreed, theres nothing happening here, just what is the purpose?
I have been coming to CP since its beginning days and this is just a shadow of what was. The gaming A/C sites have it covered.

      Well..

Over the years, The Cheat Police has done alot in different fields. Back when there were troublesome cheaters in games not supported with server/client anti-cheats, we had helped support admins in catching cheaters. We've also always hosted Trusted Server Admin badges, allowing people to know which servers are clearly safe to play in, without the worry of cheats.

Now our purpose is a bit different. As Punkbuster, PBBans, and Punksbusted have got alot of the new games covered, we're here to teach the server admins how to run their servers, and help them in any way possible. We too have a master banlist, managed by the Officers and Staff based on information provided by users and TSA's.

As we reach into a new era of CP, we will be providing more services as well. We're looking into getting an IRC Channel for better communication, as well as email-forms for people to ask questions they'd rather not post in the forums. We have new ideas coming in everyday suggesting tournaments, leagues, affiliations with leagues (reffing matches and such), closer affiliations with anti-cheat programs (such as punkbuster), and many more. Honestly? If I were to list all the suggestions and ideas we're looking at right now, I'd probably spend the next 45 minutes to an hour explaining them. The ones I've listed above are the more major ones which are more likely to be implemented. Don't think that's it though.. Trust me, there's tons more.

Anyway, for the time being, The Cheat Police is here to gather up TSA's, allowing players to know which servers are safe to play in. We're also here to answer questions people have regarding any game, or even problematic PC issues! We're here for the gaming community in any way we can be.

      Hopefully that answered your question.

      Thanks,

      Rick Aldorisio

Re: Just a question thats been on my mind for some time(year

we also have on board with us a certified microsoft technician that can help our members and affiliates with Computer issues and virus and spyware problems. this is a new facility which we can specifically offer to cheat police members.

The main area in which we are trying to focus on is cheats and hacks, because the quantity of undetected cheats and hacks is increasing all the time.
the biggest problem the gaming community faces is that every time counter measures are updated the developers of such hacks change there products to remain undetected.

Therefore as the community gets bigger part of our service can be to educate new clans and old clans on how to tackle hackers in your servers, this site then can be used to share this information between clans, so that the community can understand and work as a unified community in removing these cheaters from our servers.

Every cheater removed from your servers is a step forward, but our aim is then to stop that cheater moving to another clans server, and streaming ban lists is not always enough.

There are ways to get off the master ban lists of pbbans, punksbusted with out cost simply by changing various things which i can not disclose

My general opinion is that the more places like the CP, PBBans, punksbusted, etc there is the greater the chance to clean up multiplayer gaming

i hope thisn information helps a little to answer your question

Have to agree on this. I've experienced that darker colors have slower load times.

Maybe turn black BG to dark-grey BG
and Dark blue borders to Lighter blue borders. I think it's worth a shot to test though

OR Lt. Blue BG and Lt. Red borders to match the COPS theme.
Play right, play fair... the way it's meant to be!

Re: Just a question thats been on my mind for some time(year

Despite the issues noted in the above comments, I as a staff member can only justify my comments thus far by what has been done to date. Hence overall I feel that CP have todate made a tremendous change to the servers and game play for online gaming. We are noted for entering servers and people alike take notice when we are there. Its no secret that the CP staff and officers are about at any given time. Players are now reducing the chances they take when deciding to cheat. Thus!!! despite the CP internal issues, to me, they are irelevant. As far as I and my site staff are concerned, we salute the CP and the work that we do. Alot of dedication, hard work and energy goes into what we are doing, and any problems that do arise are small issues that will be overcome. Despite what people may say about the work that we do, what you dont see is the effort that goes on behind the scenes. Maybe CP is not how you remember it, or not what it used to be. What matters is that alot of people are coming to us for help. Its not the fact that we want a CP staff badge, or a TSA Badge, thats irrelevant. Its the diffrence that we as members can make that counts. PBBans and Punksbusted work in hand with CP and togther we pull resources together to make online gamming fun and cheat free. Our TSA badges are an indication that the server admins have agreed to the terms and conditions of server rules. And that they follow the Games ROE. Its a sign that they are against the players that give online gamming a bad name. Thats what people dont understand or see.

                @ Rick,

This was posted by you 6 months ago. With all due respect, please take an hour and explain what CP has accomplished since then and what the plans are for the future.

As one of the founding Council Members I've been roaming these forums since day 1, many years ago. And the state of the present CP saddens me to be honest. Its just a shadow of what it used to be. There are so many staffmembers on the list and yet the forums are dead, tumbleweed everywhere.

Mapmstr, be the leader CP deserves and get this show on the road. Or pull the plug and get it over and done with. Because the last thing CP needs is a slow and painfull death ...

I'm sorry for this rant, but I love CP too much to be slilent any longer.

Im in the same position I loved this site since the first day I registered back in mohaa days and it sadens me as well, and I know a few other ex-officers that left about the time I did, because we had wonderful new ideas to incorporate PB and and bring in new visitors but we would post no replies and no one wanted to do anything, im actually surprised D has kept the site up. He likes to run solo, not like D and that is that. We all use to be family and everyone shared ideas and worked together.

Re: Just a question thats been on my mind for some time(year

The gaming industry and community has changed with time.  Back when CP was founded by Complex there were very few FPS games out there.  Complex saw an issue with Medal of Honor:AA and so created this site to combat cheating.  Sadly real life took Complex from us and CP passed to my care.  As the gaming community changed so has CP changed over the years.  No, we aren't what we were and in a year we'll be different than we are now or so I would hope.  One thing CP has taught me is that the gaming community is constantly changing and ant AC site that can't change with it should just close its doors.

Op-X you mentioned PsB and PBBans.  Both have great ban lists but ask either one if they share the ban lists with each other and you'll get a resounding "NO" from the both of them.  Why you may wonder...mainly because of the bad blood between the two groups.  Here at CP we looked to gather all the bans lists in from the various AC web sites as well as from clan we knew we could trust and then create a master ban list to benefit all.  AC site should be here to serve the community and should not let petty disagreements prevent them from doing just that.

Now I can't speak personally for what CP is doing now or this year as that is in Ricks hands.  I can hope that if you feel they are not doing enough then please step up and offer suggestions on what can be done differently or what additional serves they can offer you.  If there is an issue and you say nothing about it then truthfully you have no one to blame but yoursaelf when the issue is not fixed.  If you speak up and nothing is donew to resolve the issue in a reasonable manner of time then it is in your best interest to find a different site that will meet your needs.

                      /me returns to the shadows
                      Respectfully,

Re: Just a question thats been on my mind for some time(year

                        Thank you D, well put.

I'd like to ask from now on that any non-productive complaints be kept to their owners. If you have suggestions, I'm open to hear them. If you have problems, we're willing to help.

After speaking to Greenbean from HackHunters, we formed this short profile of The Cheat Police. This is what we offer and what we do.

BADGES: The Cheat Police has a program where Server Administrators can apply for a Trusted-Server-Admin Badge. This badge symbolizes not only that they have taken a stand against cheating, it also means that they do not allow cheating in their servers, as well as their clan. All applicants are inspected thoroughly to ensure their integrity within the community. If they pass the two week investigation, they are issued a badge that they post on their website, showing that we have certified them as a non-cheating clan.

ADMIN HELP: We are also here as advisors who can assist administrators in getting their servers up and running, help get them streaming to pubs, help them protect their server from being hacked, and to inform them on the different cheats there are out there, how to identify them, and how to gather evidence that can be used against the offender later.

We provide assistance in helping server admins setup streaming with PBBans, Punksbusted, and AON.

INVESTIGATION: Think of The Cheat Police as your local police department, but in gaming. We have a team, think of them as detectives, that investigate all applicants. That is our main goal in investigation. We welcome demos, screenshots, and are always willing to examine any evidence there might be regarding cheating or hacking, and are always willing to provide opinions on the material based on experience and expertise.

                        Topic Locked.

Well put Mapmstr.  That is the sign of a true leader, taking control and keeping focused on what needs to be accomplished in current circumstances.  TCP was pretty cool in the MOHAA days but those days are over... there's much work to be done now as there are many of thousands of new people coming on the scene all the time and the games which float to the top are constantly changing.

I've been in Mapmstr's position with other organizations... as a replacement leader you have to assess what was (good and bad), what it could be and how to get there, and then you have to motivate others to align with your point of view.  It can be daunting.  TCP has 2 very strong core elements going for it that will ensure it's success, first it has a positive history that has helped thousands and second it currently has a solid site with devoted and skilled people working on todays issues.  I do think the new site reflects the new image of TCP but I would like to see more of an outreach to the public with new imagery to reflect its current direction.

Of the 4 things TCP offers: Admin Help, Badges, Streaming Assistance and Investigation... Our group doesn't really offer any of these very important things.  We will be directing all future Admins to TCP as a first step in getting help for their server as we do get many reports of cheaters on unprotected servers.  Finally, all these components are essential for new admins, making TCP invaluable.

Indeed, non-productive comments are quite pointless, I believe evryone here is doing his or her best to ensure e can all play in a dcheat-free environment.

People will always have smth to complain about, and they might be right, but u must be able to transfer yout comment in a positive, producting way. This might not be easy for earlier admins/members. Times are changin, ya know. It is never easy to play the 'leading role', u can be sure bout that.

TCP is certainly hot, since pple are still requesting badges .

                              Good job guys.
