I'd say it's gaining an unfair advantage, however, it all depends on what privileges the ranks hold. If they mean nothing more than how much you play, then it makes no difference, but if it gives you extra ammo or something like that, it's an unfair advantage.

It gives an unfair advantage by the fact everyone else ranked up (at least the majority) by normal means by playing and getting points.

I'd have to agree with you all about it being an unfair advantage.  I equate it to stat padding and have already kicked players from my server for standing around killing each other a certain number of times with certain weapons so they can rank up faster and get the better perks and weapons.

Here's my opinion. Although it may provide an advantage for some, if you are bad at the game, you are bad at the game, it's as simple as that. Having all the unlocks means nothing if you don't know how to use them in an efficient manner. HOWEVER, as flash said, it is exactly like stat padding but even more so cheating since absolutely no effort was put in to reach that level. But hey, thats just my thoughts.

its a cheat. every body else has to work towardthere ranks so it gives them a advantage  to get all the perks,weapons ect.

if i cought somebody in my clan they would be booted with out  heasatation.

Actually a ton of the cheaters I have come in contact with are pretty decent or good players.  Take the TWL and CAL for instance.  It seems the higher you are ranked, in places like that, the higher the likelihood you will encounter someone cheating.....unfortunately.

Lol all I had to do was read the question and instantly I thought it was a cheat lol.

It's almost like BattleField2 except you cant edit the file to level up in bf2, but the ranking system is the same. Lvl up and get weapons/perks.

But comparing it to other like games for example the BF series.

People that sit in BF servers and stat pad is considered hacking by the community sure its not gaining an unfare advantage by means of gameplay head to head but its gaining rank by unotherized means and it violates the EA ranked EULA. In which you will get your Key Banned for doing this.

As for CoD4 per Activision your Profile is "Your CoD 4 multiplayer stats are tied to your CD key", it may not be the old fashioned stat padding but its still a form of it and should be considered on the same level as stat padding = downloading one file and installing it. Boom Your level 55!!

As for losing the profile back it up like anything else you would want to save.

Just my 2cents on the matter.
